A fully BLV-accessible UI that provides customized accessibility-centric itinerary
My colleageus Aya Mouallem, Chih-Ling Chang, Gene Kim, and I’ve made an AI powered travel assistant for the BLV community.
Travelers who are blind or have low vision (BLV) have reported different challenges hindering a smooth travel planning process, as they needed an accessible travel planning platform that provided all the needed travel information, including accessibility details, in one place.
With a fully BLV-accessible user interface, the traveler can use AVEC to customize their accessibility preferences and travel interests, generate a personalized, accessibility-centric itinerary that aggregates all the needed information in one place, and ask an AI chat assistant any questions that they may have.
AVEC, an acronym for Accessible, Virtual Exploration Customizability, also means alongside or together in French, representing togetherness and inclusivity.
